This patent relates to a device for the quantitative detection of 17-β-estradiol and progesterone using saliva. The device has a porous matrix that detects hormones as the saliva sample flows through it. It uses labeled Fab fragments that specifically bind to each hormone at two test positions to generate detectable signals. A control signal is generated at a control position to determine the amount of hormone.
Conventional hormone testing required blood collection and testing at medical facilities, which posed challenges of inconvenience and time consumption. Furthermore, it was difficult to perform tests easily at home, especially in situations where rapid results were needed for pregnancy or infertility diagnosis. Additionally, measuring multiple hormones simultaneously was challenging, necessitating highly accurate diagnostics.
This patent provides a device that allows for hormone testing easily at home without the need for blood collection by using saliva. The device utilizes a porous matrix with two test positions and labeled Fab fragments that specifically bind to certain hormones, enabling the simultaneous measurement of multiple hormones. Furthermore, by generating a control signal at the control position and eliminating non-specific binding, it achieves high diagnostic accuracy.
